What will you find in this free tour?

This tour is the perfect way to introduce us to the fascinating history of Santiago de Compostela, letting ourselves be enveloped by its monuments, churches, palaces and monasteries. We will start our walk in the famous Obradoiro Square, situated among all the powers that have raised and governed the city for centuries: the impressive Cathedral, destination for dozens of pilgrims each year; the Pazo de Raxoi, headquarters of the City Council; and the Pazo of San Xerome, rectory of the University.

Then, we will immerse ourselves in the millennial streets of the old town to learn everything that the ancient stones of Compostela hide, in whose origins history and legends are mixed. Our walk will lead us to such places as Monastery of San Martiño Pinario, the Hostal of Catholic Kings, the Quintana and Cervantes squares, and the second most visited place in the city: the Abastos Market. We will meet the king that Vitor Hugo wrote about, we will discover the dark story of how Compostela became an Archbishopric, we will get excited by the fight of the Irmandiños and we will unlock the mystery of who is buried in the tomb of James the Great. We will walk the french camino of the pilgrims and leave the old area through Porta Faxeira. After passing the Two Marias, we will enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Compostela from the Alameda viewpoint.

Join our guides on this free tour of Santiago and discover all the mysteries of the third holy city of Christianity.

Pedro

Our guide, Juan, is one of the best guides we have come across on all the tours we have had. A boy who knows a lot and makes it very entertaining, mixing history with popular culture.
It is very worth going into the Cathedral and having a professional of the stature of Juan tell you about it. There is no color.
Thank you very much for showing us Santiago and its Cathedral!

Antonio Ortiz

Great both Juan in the part of the city and Andrés in the cathedral; they make something enjoyable that gives a lot of data but with anecdotes and jokes to make it more entertaining

Ana Vera

Andrés was our guide, historian, native of Santiago. It was an incredible experience. Entertaining, fun, funny and with millions of recommendations under his arm.

Concha Prosper

We are three friends who have visited this city numerous times, but this time, we have done two guided tours with Juan, the city tour and the cathedral tour. It has been an unforgettable exhibition due to his extensive knowledge, sense of humor and his desire to make us love this city by transmitting his enthusiasm and experience. Highly recommended

SUPER RECOMMENDED!! We have been doing the tour with our guide Juan and in addition to knowing the historic center he tells you many interesting and funny anecdotes! We liked it a lot and we would definitely repeat! Thank you John :)

Jorge “Gambor”

My partner and I have done two tours today: one with Fran through the city and another with Andrés inside the cathedral. Both have been great guides, it shows their knowledge of history and the enthusiasm they put forth. A pleasure to have taken the freetours.

Dani Martínez

The tour is very interesting, we have discovered a lot of things that otherwise would have gone unnoticed.
Andres, the guide has been very polite and respectful of all the places visited.

The free tour has been enjoyable, fun and very complete. A complete vision of the old town with a touch of humor on the part of the guide that has made us enjoy the morning a lot. Totally recommended.

The tour with Juan is something that should be on your list of things to do in Santiago. There are 2 hours of history and information that he tells in an educational and at the same time fun way ... You can tell that he likes to do it and transmits it to others ... Recommended to 1000%
